Guatemala- normal school; a very crazy Mother’s Day on 9th; the Itzapa girls football team compete in the departmental competition; Santiago and Elvia explain what they are teaching this month. Second set of exams start 27th in Itzapa.

Honduras – normal school; Mother’s Day was celebrated on 11th – the Honduran Sack Dance was a winner – and the first graders do wonders with Phomolo.

 

Nicaragua – normal school; Field-day to prepare for the rainy season; two new siblings join with a very sad past;  Labour Day on 1st; Plan Identidad 17th and 24th; birthdays 30th; trip and football 31st. Fabiola joins the teaching staff and the La Thompson Band in started.

Ecuador – normal school apart from Labour Day on 1st and Batalla de Pinchincha on 24th. Muenala’s vegetable garden and Plan Papa are started with the second round of crops planted for Plan Ironwoman. Second set of exams.

Perú – Maldonado anniversary was celebrated, folkloric dance competition, Mother’s Day.

Fly The Phoenix Fundraising events

Karen Evans is raising money for Guatemala and Honduras by giving up alcohol for the whole of May and donating what she would have spent to the projects.

 

Tracey Lumsden, who has managed our projects in Guatemala and Ecuador between 2006 and 2011, is taking on half of the Makeni Marathon in Sierra Leone on 26th May to raise funds for Ecuador.

 

12th – Mothering Sunday in the US and around the world – tell your Mum how much she means to her with a gift to our projects in her name
